Density and RF microneedling: how to choose a consultation
Both involve radiofrequency energy, but they deliver it differently. At Mirelle in Manasquan, the choice begins with the concern, treatment area, medical history and realistic goals, rather than a device name.
How the delivery differs
DENSITY uses surface-applied monopolar and bipolar radiofrequency with cooling. RF microneedling uses small needles to deliver radiofrequency energy at selected depths in the skin. They are distinct procedures, and neither is automatically the better choice for every person.
Questions that guide a recommendation
Is your main concern skin firmness, texture, scarring or changes in facial shape? Which area would be treated? What procedures have you had before? Your consultation helps separate these concerns and determine whether an available treatment fits the specific area and your health history.
Compare the complete plan
Ask about expected improvement, number of visits, comfort measures, aftercare, recovery, maintenance and the total proposed cost. A photograph or a device name cannot establish what your result will be. Ask which findings make you a suitable candidate and what alternatives are available.
Understand risks before deciding
Energy-based procedures have risks. The FDA has reported serious complications with certain uses of RF microneedling, including burns, scarring, fat loss and nerve damage. Discuss the specific device, treatment area, operator training and risk-reduction measures. Surface-applied RF also requires careful suitability assessment and does not eliminate heat-related risks.
